MOVIE UPDATE–– HUMAN NO MORE

ATTENTION––Help!

I'll soon be putting out a general call for volunteers to help during the October shoot (17th-24th): Production Assistants, general Grip & Audio, and Makeup, plus about 3-4 folks who want to appear in the film as silhouettes (1 day), etc. (contact me if your interested) (I guess that was a pretty general announcement, inadvertently.)

Anyway...what can I say...things have gotten a whole lot more expensive, I have gotten a whole lot more tired and more poor, and yet pre-production on the film continues. The set build (2 sets, actually) will begin in early to mid August. Props and materials are still being actively collected, compiled, and modified when need be. If I'm actually alive by October 17th when the production shoot begins, and I'm still functioning by October 24th when it ends, we will be very much on our way to having a real movie.

A second, very important weekend shoot is scheduled for mid November to execute the final key shots with actor TONY SIMMONS, at three locations, and then more tentative dates are planned for December with only Tony and I, to record much Voice Over dialogue.

TERRELL STATE (MENTAL) HOSPITAL

(Photo Series #4)

Please enjoy the 4th & Final set in my photo series of the famous Texas mental hospital at Terrell, TX.

Even though the original 1885 hospital was lost, there is still so much to ponder here. If only these structures and walls could talk. But, as I’ve said before, these pictures are at least worth 1000 words apiece. So join me on my afternoon trip into a daylight nightmare, that only touches on the darkness and chaos, struggle and hopelessness, and morbid isolation which confounded the minds that inhabited these walls. And in this PHOTO SERIES #4, a very brief glimpse of WILDWOOD CEMETERY, where many of these poor souls passed beyond their lives and left behind their mortal coil on this earth.

Once again, just for bearings...the first picture is the original TERRELL STATE HOSPITAL, which is no longer standing. The second (overhead) online photo of the TERRELL STATE HOSPITAL campus was found online, and meant to give some reference.

TERRELL STATE HOSPITAL. Terrell State Hospital was opened as a regional psychiatric hospital in July 1885. During the late nineteenth century, due to overcrowding in the state's only psychiatric treatment facility, located at Austin, eligible patients throughout Texas were often confined to county jails and poorhouses, both places incapable of treating the mentally ill.
