TONY SIMMONS as DET. NEMO (From HNM)
IT's OFFICIAL! After several weeks of talks and thoughts and scribblings...

Black CAB Productions has––as of meetings with key project players yesterday––green lit what will become a new feature length film, starring TONY SIMMONS reprising his role as DETECTIVE NEMO from HUMAN NO MORE.

The project is yet untitled, and is progressing under the working moniker "3DG+" ––simply due to the fact that the film will be uniquely incorporating the films SCREAM FOR ME, MY SKIN! and HUMAN NO MORE. Sorry, but I can't tell you more than that right now.

Shooting of all NEW SCENES will begin this year with SIMMONS and an as yet undisclosed actor portraying MR. BLIGHT (from HNM).   If I can pull this one off, folks, I truly will have accomplished something greater than all my previous efforts...and it really will be the end of an old––and the beginning of a new––era. So let's all keep our fingers crossed.

NOTE: I will be looking for helpers and supporters as the 3DG+ project proceeds, so send me a message outlining your talents, if you'd maybe like to be involved at some point. This will include Production Assistants (movie slaves) and might also include some crowd funding cheerleaders––so those who can help dredge up some money and drag some cash out of people might become a necessity. More on that later.

The parents and I saw ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD yesterday (after our delicious lunch at Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.) at the ANGELIKA FILM CENTER THEATER.

We all agreed the movie was very good. Intelligent and interesting––intriguing, then absorbing even––yet at first almost a casual meandering stroll that soon enough becomes quite intense to the bitter end. It is director RIDLEY SCOTT at his most subtle and masterful. You will definitely take away what a greedy, skewed bastard J. Paul Getty was––played outstandingly by CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, one of my favorite actors.

I highly recommend ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD (it was good fortune to lose Kevin Spacey––Plummer made a superior Getty, I speculate.)

The parents and I had an excellent lunch at the new DALLAS GRILLED CHEESE CO. in Mockingbird Station, just down from the Angelika Film Center Theater.

Very tasty grilled cheeses of many varieties, from the basic to elaborate. I had the D’s BSTC (grilled sourdough with bacon, spinach, tomato, Gruyére)––very yummy! And the onion rings are great! Highly recommended.

A CATCH IN TIME: CHAPTER ONE

LONELY GIRL FILMS photographer/filmmaker Katrena Rochell (the better half of "Scream For Me" cinematographer Stewart Eastham) sent me this very cool pic to let me know they finally watched my new film on the big screen in their haunted chateau. Katrena commented, "Yes!!! It was great. I've never seen anything quite like it!" Many thanks, Katrena, you really made my whole week. Love the pic!

THE SHAPE OF WATER

I finally got to see the new GUILLERMO DEL TORO film THE SHAPE OF WATER, this last Sunday morning.

I quite enjoyed it! The best way I can describe the film is Del Toro finally made a "date" movie. This one the little boys in us will enjoy, but the girlfriends and wives will likely love. It is literally a "fish out of water" story, as well as the familiar misunderstood monster tale. But it's very much a girl (played with endearing, sexy empathy by a mute SALLY HAWKINS) meets monster, monster and girl spook then connect, (share many hard boiled eggs!), monster and girl fall in love, and love (and water) will save all. Maybe.

The art direction is wonderful to look at––a dark fairy tale, slightly steampunk world set in cold war America, that is reminiscent of JEAN-PIERRE JEUNET's film THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN. The story is not an original one––a mishmash of Frankenstein, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and The Hunchback Of Notre Dame––but it is told up close and personal, one-on-one much of the time, and with tender loving care.

THE SHAPE OF WATER is worth watching if you're in the mood for old Hollywood nostalgia, sweet sentimentality, want to despise Big Brother and the KGB, and want to see a Del Toro movie your better-half will shed a tear in, while she holds tight to your hand and arm, with her head on your shoulder. You might even get a kiss afterward.
And you'll know there was a little magic in this movie.

XTC: THIS IS POP (2018)

XTC is one of greatest all time pop bands to me––underrated and overlooked by too many––and a modern Beatles in songwriting skill and reinvention. I've been a huge fan since the 80s. Loved this new doc now on Showtime. If you appreciate XTC as I do, this is a must watch. Enjoy!

TALKING HEADS: THE VENT HAVEN PORTRAITS
(Photography by Matthew Rolston)

I've been enjoying this most excellent book Mom and Dad surprised me with for this last Christmas. :) Over 100 portraits of ventriloquist dummies chosen from over 700 at the VENT HAVEN MUSEUM in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. A museum whose collection of ventriloquist dummies began back in 1910 by William Shakespeare Berger. Enjoy some pics from my book!
