ALL NEW from Feast Frenzy @ The Horror Food Network!

Maybe not for everyone, but they sure tasted great to me.  BLUE CHEESE GOURMET TACOS!

First brown 93% lean ground beef in a non-stick skillet and season to taste with garlic powder, basil, oregano, Texas Gunpowder, Worcestershire sauce, and Tapatio Hot Sauce.  Once ready, take 3 flat bottom taco shells and layer in a bed of spring greens and diced tomatoes; next add the beef and top with diced red onions and crumbled blue cheese––garnish with sliced black olives.  On the side: organic black beans with chopped fresh jalapeno peppers and sprinkled with basil and paprika.  Add one large radish.  It was a symphony of flavor!
IT'S BINGE-WATCH HEAVEN!

Netflix has put up some great original UK crime/detective shows in the not so distant past. The ones I highly recommend you track down are: RIVER, THE FALL, and MARCELLA. All are about very flawed and scarred detectives who are expert and unique at what they do best––find the killer or killers––but are constantly fighting their own personal issues, which can be stumbling blocks.  Find the trailers for all three shows below.

RIVER stars the excellent, Swedish born STELLAN SKARSGARD as a London detective who has suffered extreme trauma regarding the deaths he's had to face in his life.  But for most of his life he's seen what most of us would call ghosts, but which he can only describe as "manifests".

Also on Netflix...

THE FALL stars GILLIAN ANDERSON of X-FILES fame.  She's a high-ranking British detective called to Belfast, Ireland, to help solve a recent murder that turns out to be a serial killing.  What's wonderful about this show is that the viewer knows from the beginning who the killer (played by JAMIE DORNAN) is and we fallow his double life in a parallel, and often overlapping, story as GILLIAN ANDERSON, as Detective Stella Gibson, tries desperately to find him before he kills again.

Also on Netflix...

MARCELLA (played by ANNA FRIEL) is quite outstanding.  She is a woman whose husband suddenly leaves her and, consequently, decides to return to detective work with the London Metropolitan Police after an 11 year hiatus.  She enters a world of on-line dating, prostitution, and the dubious dealings of her husband's employers while trying to save her marriage.  But what makes her character interesting is that she suffers from extremely violent fugue states.  When she comes out of them she has no memory of what she has done.  As she tracks down a serial killer who has resurfaced after she hunted him 11 years previously, she is terrified she might also be a murderer.  In fact, we the viewer don't know, and the show leaves us constantly guessing how many possible killers there really are.

ALL NEW from Feast Frenzy @ The Horror Food Network!

Delicious and healthy––HOT ITALIAN TURKEY SAUSAGE!  First grill a lean Jenny-O Hot Italian Turkey Sausage (only 10g of fat) and crinkle cut fries on the NuWave Oven for 12 minutes (flipping the sausage once at the 6 minute mark).  While the link and fries are cooking, heat crispy sauerkraut in the microwave for 4 minutes until piping hot––strain and spoon onto a dinner plate and top with freshly diced red onion & mild jalapeno peppers, then drizzle with paprika.  Now bookend the kraut with the sausage link (make sure it's at 165 degrees inside and then pour on Frank's Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce) and add the golden brown fries (spice with freshly ground black pepper).  Add condiment cups of sriracha ketchup and jalapeno mustard for dipping the fries and eat.  Absolutely fantastic!

HAPPY SATURDAY and
INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND to one and all!

Enjoy a tune about fighting the good fight––
SOMETIMES by one of my fav bands MIDNIGHT OIL.

Enjoy the video here:

"Sometimes"
I know that the sunset empire shudders and shakes
I know there's a floodgate and a raging river
I say the silence of the ribbons of iron and steel
I say hear the punch drunk huddle drive hammer and steel

Sometimes you're beaten to the call
Sometimes you're taken to the wall
But you don't give in

I know that the cannibals wear smart suits and ties
I know they arm wrestle on the altar
I say don't leave your heart in a hard place

Sometimes you're shaken to the core
Sometimes the face is gonna fall
But you don't give in

I'm far more of a guy who goes for brunettes, but MARGOT ROBBIE is a blond who really floats my boat. Today (July 2nd) is her birthday, so...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGOT ROBBIE, femme fatale of my dreams!

Saw SWISS ARMY MAN this morning––starring DANIEL RADCLIFFE and PAUL DANO––and I have to say I quite liked it

Not for everyone, but it resonated with me. If you have the right––somewhat twisted, somewhat dark, somewhat irreverent––sense of humor you'll enjoy the film. And if, like me, you can relate to the loneliness brought on by isolation you'll understand the movie on a deeper level. One where the imagination, relentless introspective thought, and the constant feeling that you just don't fit into this world can give you a very different perspective on love and self-appreciation that many would call not only bizarre and insane, but self-sabotaging and dangerously sociopathic.

In some ways SWISS ARMY MAN is a movie about a stalker, but not a stalker in the usual sense, but a stalker of one's identity, self-worth, inner peace, and much needed happiness.

All in all, SWISS ARMY MAN made me smile and sometimes chuckle, even if it also left me touched with a twinge of sadness. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something different.

Enjoy MONTAGE, the film's theme song here, it says a lot about the vibe of the film––Pop popcorn, pop popcorn, pop popcorn, now we're using your body like it's a machine gun, I have to admit I'm enjoying your company...

But so often it can be terribly difficult to enjoy your own company.

THE INFILTRATOR (Coming July 13th), starring Bryan Cranston of BREAKIN BAD superstardom and the always great John Leguizamo. This one looks like a good one in the drug/crime thriller department.
