Watched the old film DAYLIGHT (1996 –– that's old nowadays. Uhgggg...) and loved it.
I'd seen the movie in the theater when it came out but not since. Say
what you want about Sylvester Stallone, but this isn't one of his
muscle-bound, cheese-clown portrayals, and is one of his most heartfelt,
I'm-a-real-human-being tortured-by-my-past performances. Yes, the film
is contrived, and yes there are those moments of conceit concocted only
to make sure one more action scene will
occur, but the movie over all is exceptionally well made. If you watch
the film for nothing else, watch it for the tunnel explosion and
collapse sequence near the beginning. It is truly outstanding work ––
and this if before big CGI. My vote is: grab the popcorn, climb into a
comfy chair or couch, turn out the lights, and watch a lot of DAYLIGHT.
Currently streaming on Netflix.
