Tried out a brand new pizza place that just opened up down the street from me–– PIEOLOGY!

PIEOLOGY lets you muddle down a buffet of sauce, cheese, veggie & meat toppings that you can instruct your personal pizza prepper to install on your pie. The pizza is then fired in a mega-hot, open-front, fiery oven that will have your pizza ready in just 5 minutes (give or take a few minutes). Mine was absolutely delicious!

Saw JASON BOURNE this morning at the cheap show and very much enjoyed it!

We again find poor, distraught, lonely, silent-type JASON BOURNE (MATT DAMON) still tweaking his memory and uncovering still more clues to his original identity as David Webb. And, of course, the agency (fronted by TOMMY LEE JONES & ALICIA VIKANDER) that created him is again out to get Bourne back or "take him out", as they like to say––and they don't mean to a candlelit dinner.

There is an excellent car and motorcycle chase to look forward to, as well as an outstanding example of the smash-em-all-to-hell fun you can gave with a SWAT vehicle pursuit near the climax of the film.

All that being said––Director PAUL GREENGRASS is back with his relentlessly jerky (sometimes zoomy) let-me-show-you-everything through a limited, no peripheral-vision allowed, spyglass close-up on the action shooting style. Shwoo! It does get on my nerves just a bit at times. Especially when he's also constantly challenging me to read phone texts while the cell-screen is bouncing around the frame. If you suffer from motion sickness, you might want to skip this one (or any of the Bourne films, for that matter). But if you love rollercoasters and deep-sea fishing in rough weather, you 'll be very pleased indeed.

All-in-all, JASON BOURNE is a film with a taut story, solid acting, and non-stop action from the first frame. Those of you suffering from BOURNE-ivorous cravings, your misery is over, your hunger will be satisfied!

ALL NEW from Feast Frenzy @ The Horror Food Network!

I was in another soup mood and also wanted something fast and simple, so...HABANERO PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM SOUP & SALAD was the endgame!

First, pour one can of condensed Cream Of Mushroom soup and one can of spring water into a large microwave bowl.  Next add sliced baby Portobello mushrooms, one finely diced Habanero pepper, and diced white onions.  Cook in the microwave for 5 minutes.  When ready, ladle into a soup bowl, spice with ground black pepper, and garnish with shredded carrots, sliced radish, and one whole baby Portobello mushroom.

On the side: a salad of fresh spinach, spring greens, kale, collard greens, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, broccoli, diced red bell peppers, tomatoes, red onions, sliced black olives, white mushrooms, and shredded Parmesan cheese.  Spice all with oregano, basil, paprika, garlic, ground black pepper, and 50/50 lite salt.   Dress with canola oil, balsamic vinegar, and Kraft fat-free Italian.  All very tasty!

THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN 2016 (starring DENZEL WASHINGTON, CHRIS PRATT, ETHEN HAWKE, et al)!––is a remake of...

The classic American western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN 1960 (with YUL BRYNNER, STEVE McQUEEN, CHARLES BRONSON, et al) which is a remake of the classic Japanese film SEVEN SAMURAI 1954 directed by the noted AKIRA KUROSAWA. So...

Will we have a new "classic" on our hands come this September?

Feel free to place your bets and enjoy this "double" trailer here:

Cool! Per Matthew Sanderson, the new TI WEST, uhem, "western" might just be a great new TRAVOLTA and ETHAN HAWKE hit. Wondering if the "Denton" sign opening the trailer is for Denton, Texas. Performed many shows in Denton at the University Of North Texas' Rock Bottom Lounge. Also, Denton is quite well known as the town-setting of ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

SPLIT (starring JAMES McAVOY)––Coming this January 2017!

The latest from M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Visit). Seems M. Night, although suffering countless film flops is still able to crank them out and must be sitting on an endless bankroll. I'm a big fan of "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable", but felt his movies began to fall off into pop-fluff thereafter. "The Village" had a super first half, but then sort of dwindled for me (I know many might disagree on that). I haven't yet seen his last film, THE VISIT, which I hear brings him back closer to true form––it's currently in my Netflix to watch soon. At any rate, will SPLIT deliver? Or will it literally "split" the M. Night audience again?

I've been a huge KING KONG fan since I was kid, and still love the original 1933 version, as well as the PETER JACKSON remake. And now Hollywood has brought KONG into the modern age with...

KONG: SKULL ISLAND due out in 2017!

The Comic-Con trailer looks good––the film starring TOM HIDDLESTON, BRIE LARSON, JOHN GOODMAN, JOHN C. REILLY, and...can you guess? That's right! SAMUEL L. JACKSON popping up in still another action film. This is almost starting to annoy me. lol I liked him quite a lot back when he made a real effort to play characters instead of just himself––the now token "Sam Jackson" character that Hollywood today seems to think is a requirement.

Anyway, checkout the new trailer here:

Shwoooo! That was hard work! But in spite of my procrastination I did finally start seeing the proper path of the swastika and made excellent progress on my Nazi horror tale, A CATCH IN TIME.  Only one page for a day's work, but a lot of sorting and sifting and reorganizing ideas that had grown obsolete, yet still needed to have the bits of gold plucked from their stinky, muddy bottoms. I do deserve a double-cheeseburger now.

ALL NEW from Feast Frenzy @ The Horror Food Network!

I was wishing the blazing summer would go away, so I concocted some wintertime food.  The result?  SPICY TURKEY SAUSAGE & PORTOBELLO MUSHROOM SOUP!

First I started grilling two large Jenny-O Hot Italian Turkey Sausages on my NuWave Oven.  Then, in a large saucepan I poured one 15oz can of organic red kidney beans and one 8oz can of tomato sauce (no salt added)––next I added sliced baby Portobello mushrooms, shredded carrots, diced red onions, one each of finely-diced Habanero pepper, Serrano pepper, and jalapeno pepper.  Then I spiced all with 50/50 lite salt, oregano, basil & paprika, and brought the soup to a boil.

Once the sausages were done at 165-degrees, I cut the links into thick slices and marinated for 5 minutes in Worcestershire sauce & Tabasco Sauce, then added them to the boiling soup.  Bringing the stove fire way down, I simmered the soup––stirring regularly––for 20 minutes.  When all was mixed well and piping hot, I ladled into a soup bowl and garnished with fresh shredded carrots, chives, sliced black olives, and shred Parmesan cheese.  On the side: Nature's Harvest 40-calorie Multi-grain bread with Smart Balance Omega-3 butter and sprinkled with basil.  This was soooooooo delicious!  Summer, summer go away!  Come on winter!

Woohoo! The SUICIDE SQUAD's HARLEY QUINN Trailer!

MARGOT ROBBIE is the yum-yum, femme fatale baby-doll of my dreams. Where do I sign up for a night out with this wicked wildcat?

COMING IN 2017––WONDER WOMAN Movie!

Interesting that the character of Wonder Woman first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941, yet the film is very obviously set sometime during 1914 to 1918 in the midst of World War I. Cool, however, that DC Comics is going period with the movie. And I guess WWI will be a nice change, otherwise Wonder Woman would seem a little too Marvel Comic's Captain America if set in the ever popular, endlessly exploited World War II era (DC is going to give the Kaiser a chance and the Fuhrer a much needed rest).

The comedy in the trailer seems a little stilted, but I'm sure the film is currently getting polished to death in the editing department. Hope it will be a new knockout superhero movie.

Just saw STAR TREK: BEYOND, and...well...looks like they'll need still "another" new USS Enterprise spacecraft. lol

But that's hardly a spoiler for a STAR TREK movie these days.

I really enjoyed the film overall! But, as some critics have said, thanks to director JUSTIN LIN––who has helmed 3 of the FAST & FURIOUS films––the approach, much of the time, is a little too fast and furious, resulting in a "blur of space babble and battles". :D Well, all I can say is stay sharp and try not to blink. Some logistics when the action gets rolling are difficult to follow. Who's where––wait––wh-wha-what?

SOFIA BOUTELLA is quite sexy as the wayward, martial-arts, high-kicking alien JAYLAH. And the rest of cast is perfect in their roles, as usual. The STAR TREK crew-mate humor is rampant throughout and usually spot on.

More sci-fi than humanistic, this go around, the evil aliens' technology is definitely far out––I'm still trying to understand some of it and also what the ultimate weapon really was.

Without J.J. ABRAMS directing this installment, I have to admit the film somehow lost a bit of its high tech gloss, and was blatantly lacking the spectacular and stylized lens flares that ABRAMS loves to put into almost every shot.

All that being said, I think the previous film (STAR TREK: INTO DARKNESS) is the best of the current franchise, but STAR TREK: BEYOND is still a great time and doesn't slow down for a minute. Check it out if you love STAR TREK and especially a little harder sci-fi edge.  You won't be disappointed.

Coolio! Yesterday, I finally received NO BUGLES, NO DRUMS by CHARLES DURDEN.  A Vietnam novel that is considered a classic by those who have read it but, sadly, unknown to many.

Opening lines from NO BUGLES:
"Right off I knew things were gonna be f#@ked up as a picnic in a free-fire zone. Had to be. Number one in the Jamie Hawkins Index of Worthless Activities: everything that starts before noon. And here those silly sonsofbitches came at four f#@kin' a.m."

lol Nice start Charlie! (y)

Enjoy a pic of the only two DURDEN novels and scans of the 1976 Viking Press edition of NO BUGLE, NO DRUMS, including dust jacket photo of Charlie about 22 years before I met him.

For those who don't know my Charlie Durden story, you can check it out here:

The indefatigable, forward-thinking, BCP Team-UK associate, Matthew Sanderson, has––with all his business acumen––inspired me to expand my new Nazi horror tale, A CATCH IN TIME, into a variety of other markets. Porn, S&M, and exploitation being three. Enjoy the new graphic for this campaign. :D  lol... hehehehe... (yes, this is meant to be satirical)

Who says you can't have fancy $15-dollar tacos for just under $5-bucks?

On today's menu: TAPATIO CHICKEN GOURMET TACOS!  First, drain a can of white chicken breast in water, then break up in a skillet until well-minced.  Now flavor with a bit of Worcestershire sauce & a healthy dose of Tapatio Salsa Picante Hot Sauce––spice with oregano, basil, and paprika.  Cook in the skillet until hot and all chicken has absorbed the spices and taken on the light-red shade of the Tapatio sauce.

Spoon into flat-bottom taco shells, add a layer of shredded sharp cheddar, and then add a layer of previously prepared chopped cabbage, carrots & green onions that has been lightly flavored with balsamic vinegar.  Top with freshly chopped chives.

On the side: organic black beans combined with steamed mixed vegetables, then spiced to taste with Texas Gunpowder & ground cayenne pepper––top with a pepperoncini.  Add a few white tortilla chips and eat!  I have to admit this was absolutely delicious!  I outdid myself.
I WANT TO GO!!!!!
